Julie Segall, PT, DPT, CAPP-OB, grew up dancing in Evanston, IL. At 16 years of age, a podiatrist who spoke to her like she was an equal introduced her to the world of bodies through the feet. From there, dance began to mesh with physical therapy through her own recovery from a foot injury. Julie graduated from Goucher College with a BA in Dance with a concentration in Dance Science. After college, she danced professionally for several years in NYC with small modern dance companies that no longer exist.
Julie went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from New York University in 2014. Prior to opening her own business, she had the great fortune of working with dozens of Broadway shows from 2014-2020, including STOMP, A Bronx Tale, Pretty Woman, and Network. An interest in treating the pregnant population led her towards earning a certification in Obstetric Physical Therapy (CAPP-OB) through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). As such, Julie has a special interest in the pregnant or mama dancer. Julie founded Segall Physical Therapy in 2021, and has had the pleasure of treating performers, moms and moms-to-be. Although Julie specializes in treating performers and prenatal/postpartum women, she welcomes all those struggling with injuries and muscular dysfunction.
FAQs
Do you take insurance?
Segall Physical Therapy takes workers comp insurance, and is out of network with commercial insurance. We will contact your insurance provider to look up your out of network benefits, and provide you with that information. Payment for sessions works toward your deductible if you are using your out of network benefits. Regardless of whether you are using your insurance or not, a fee is due at the end of every session, and all major credit cards, cash, and checks are accepted.
What can I expect from a session?
Evaluations and sessions thereafter are one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist for 60 minutes. Come wearing loose, comfortable clothing that can easily access the area needed to be treated (loose athletic shorts and a tank top work well). About half the time will be spent performing manual work, and the other half will include therapeutic exercises that are tailored to your individual needs.
What if Iām not a performer and not a pregnant person? Will you treat me?
Absolutely!
What if I get sick?
Please email or text to reschedule as soon as possible. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment time, you will be responsible for a cancellation fee.
